Classical Guitar
When you think of classical guitar playing, you think of Andrés Segovia, the man who brought the guitar to the concert stages in the twentieth century. Recuerdos de la Alhambra; the Concierto de Aranjuez; Bach fugues. Subdued classical pieces by Fernando Sor or Giuilliani and fiery Spanish music by Tarréga and Augustin Barrios. The guitar has been surprising concert audiences with its multitude of sounds for two centuries. The great Frederic Chopin said, “Nothing is more beautiful than the sound of a guitar.”
The guitar has played a major role in modern pop music, but we offer classical lessons for anyone who is interested in the other side of the guitar. This involves working on the necessary technique so that the student develops a beautiful tone and becomes proficient on the instrument. In addition, we work on musicality: dynamics, building musical sentences, distinguishing different voices in polyphonic music.
The learning process is coordinated with the student, so that a clear and achievable goal is set to work towards. All common methods are available upon request. It is possible to work from tablature first, as long as reading notation is an obstacle, so that music can be made as quickly as possible. The lessons are offered privately and, if there is sufficient interest, also as a group lesson.
Jazz Guitar
For anyone who wants to go beyond the simple chords that make up pop music, it is good to delve into jazz and therefore also the jazz guitar. Extensive chord progressions full of seventh and none chords, on which you can improvise to your heart's content. From the gipsy jazz of Django Reinhardt to Wes Montgomery and Pat Metheny, they all have their own sound, which is created by the different licks and riffs from which they build their solos.
Playing jazz opens up a completely new world for the guitarist. It is quickly possible to develop the jazz sound by connecting chords in the right way, but jazz also remains challenging in the long run. Different scales, new riffs, technique and flexibility, there is always something to work on.
Our teachers are experienced guitarists who can guide the student in the search for their own sound. A learning plan is drawn up together with the student, so that it is clear what will be worked towards during the year. All common methods are available upon request. The lessons are offered privately and, if there is sufficient interest, also as a group lesson.
Rock Guitar
Was 1954 the year that Rock 'n' Roll was born, with musicians like the Drifters and Elvis Presley? Were The Beatles the greatest innovators ever in music history? And does all that have anything to do with Green Day and Coldplay?
Rock is a broad genre, within which everyone has their own likes and dislikes. The rock guitar lessons are built around the student's taste in music, so that many well-known songs will be included. In addition, extensive attention will be paid to playing riffs and soloing. Various techniques are discussed, all based on existing music, so that the lessons do not become a dry technique exercise.
We work directly from tablature, so that music can be made immediately in the first lessons. The lessons are offered privately and as group lessons. You can also rock with us on steel string and Spanish guitar.
Bass guitar
Advanced
Have you been playing for a number of years? Are you repeating yourself? Are you ready for improvement and therefore change?
It often happens that after a number of years of playing fun, a ceiling is reached: a player notices that no progress is being made. If you want to break that, you've come to the right place. By formulating learning objectives and drawing up a lesson plan together with your teacher, you can work in a targeted manner. This way you can improve and continue to develop yourself.
F-clef method
The principle at our school is "play with fun". The methodology used is partly determined by the student. Playing pieces of music you bring along with you, supplemented with lessons in styles, theory and rhythm, is a powerful method. In this way, not only is a repertoire built up, but a student also gains knowledge about the system behind the music. In this way the lessons remain interesting and educational and a solid foundation is laid for a further musical career.
It is of course possible to opt for a fixed method using a book and CD. This allows the focus - temporarily or otherwise - to be placed on a specific artist, style or technique.
Rhythm
Since the bass guitar is not only harmonic but also very rhythmic in nature, the necessary attention is paid to rhythm in bass lessons. Through exercises and specific pieces of music, the principles of rhythm are taught and the student develops a sense of timing. Long notes, short notes, shuffle or "straight", a bassist must be a jack of all trades.
Support activities
Band coaching
The bass guitar has an accompanying character and is therefore always part of a larger whole: playing with others reveals the true nature of the bass guitar. At the guitar school we offer the option of band coaching where you make music with others under guidance. Read more about band coaching here...
Prelude evenings
We organize a recital evening several times a year. Students can play a piece of music for an audience on a stage. A few weeks in advance we ask the student if he/she wants to participate. The bass guitar lessons prior to the recital evening are used to prepare for this performance. In this way, the student learns to prepare a piece of music and gains stage experience.

Drums
Beginners
From the first beat behind the drum set at our drum lesson in The Hague, the student immerses himself in how the drums and drummers have developed over the years! Think of different styles, so that the student gains a broad knowledge and can ultimately play in a band more easily! Through a combination of exercises and playing songs, the instrument is mastered in a musical and playful way. Building and repeating repertoire lays a foundation for further development.
Advanced
You can also come here as an experienced drummer, so imagine; Technically you are no longer making any progress, you are repeating yourself or you do not know how to play that one groove with conviction, then a plan of action will be drawn up together with our drum teacher and we will ensure that the right screws are tightened!

Drums are of course purely rhythmic, which is why we help the student develop a sense of timing through exercises and specific pieces of music. Whether you prefer to shuffle or hammer straight ahead, the most important thing is knowing when to switch to a different rhythm, but even more important; when not!

Ukulele,
Recently, the ukulele has been widely used in pop music again. Think of the band Train with their song Soul Sister, or Jason Mraz with I'm Yours. The sharp sound of the ukulele is instantly recognizable, which makes it so much fun to learn to play the instrument.
It's easy to learn the basic chords of the four strings used in most songs. But more developed ukulele players can also learn a lot, what about Bach or fingerstyle pop melodies, it is all possible to play on a ukulele. Moreover, it is an instrument that is easy to take with you on holiday due to its size.
