Classical guitar with nylon strings
This mother of the acoustic guitar family is still popular because it can play many types of music. The nylon strings in combination with the somewhat wider neck compared to guitars with metal strings make this guitar very suitable for beginners. Almost any type of music can be played on this guitar. But advanced enthusiasts of the warm sound of the guitar, also known as the Spanish guitar, will also enjoy this guitar, which is very suitable for fingerpicking.
Steel string guitar
Steel strings and therefore the characteristic clear sound of this acoustic guitar make this guitar extremely popular in e.g. pop, country, folk, blues but also jazz. The steel strings and the often larger sound box make the traditional size not the right choice for every beginner. Fortunately, nowadays there are more manageable, smaller and well-tuned steel string guitars for sale, which do have a slightly higher price tag.
Electric guitar
Steel strings in combination with elements that record the sound and send it to the amplifier make this guitar suitable for playing smoothly from soft to extremely loud. The reinforcement makes it possible to play on thin strings, which makes many things possible with various techniques that are a lot more difficult to achieve on thicker strings.
Bass guitar
Characteristic are the four, but sometimes more, thick strings and the length of the bass guitar. The thick strings provide the heavy sound of the guitar. The bass guitar is indispensable in any band or ensemble setting. On the one hand, the heavy bass tones lay the foundation for the chords and on the other hand, they accentuate the rhythm of the drummer. The bass guitar is therefore the melodic link between the drummer and the chords and melody. The many picking techniques also make the instrument suitable for playing a solo role.
Drums
Ukulele
Recently, the ukulele has been widely used in pop music again. Think of the band Train with their song Soul Sister, or Jason Mraz with I'm Yours. The sharp sound of the ukulele is instantly recognizable, which makes it so much fun to learn to play the instrument.
It's easy to learn the basic chords of the four strings used in most songs. But more developed ukulele players can also learn a lot, what about Bach or fingerstyle pop melodies, it is all possible to play on a ukulele. Moreover, it is an instrument that is easy to take with you on holiday due to its size.
